In partnership with Duchesne Academy’s Heart of the Summer Program, students work with a professional writer, and the low teacher-student ratios ensure individual attention. Through grade level appropriate activities such as writing stories, poetry, essays, and plays, children develop new skills, stretch their creativity, and enjoy inspiration and mentoring from professional writers.Non-Duchesne families are welcome to attend. For more information contact: 713.468.8211, ext. 200.

In partnership with the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center Summer Camp, WITS provides camps helping students develop strong writing skills. At Camp WITS, students take part in hands-on activities that garner an understanding and command of writing, utilizing engaging exercises and lessons. Students use knowledge and abilities to create an anthology of short stories and poems. ERJCC membership is required to participate in camp programs. For more information contact: 713.551.7208.

Are you a writer who is inspired by images? A visual artist who can’t get enough of words? At this camp, you will work with professional writers and artists to create writing and art projects, such as designing photo-booth narratives, carving poems, dabbling in the world of zines, or composing inside a shadow box. You will also get to explore inspiring spaces like the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Glassell School, or the Contemporary Arts Museum. At the end of camp, you’ll invite your family to a celebration where you’ll get to display your polished piece of writing and art in a gallery exhibition of your work.

Sign up now for a three day camp intensive in Montrose, where rising 4th-7th grade students will transform their stories and poems into video games. All learning levels welcomed. Students will need to bring their own laptops (no tablets). Only 12 spots are available, so be sure to register today!
