Emerging Writers Fellowship

What is the WITS Emerging Writers Fellowship?
The WITS Emerging Writers Fellowship is a 12-month apprenticeship program designed for creative writers and performers ages 18-24. Emerging Writers will receive comprehensive training in workshop facilitation for school and community spaces.
This program is an excellent leadership opportunity for emerging teaching artists interested in working with young people in various Houston area communities. The cohort will also be joining a network of local artists who are given opportunities to refine and advance their artistry.
How do you become an Emerging Writer?
Applications to become an Emerging Writer will be open in the beginning of September. Finalists will be invited to an in-person interview in mid to late September.
Attend digital trainings and professional development sessions with writers and educators
Have the opportunity to curate creative spaces for middle and high school-aged students
Work with a collaborative and diverse cohort of artists and educators
Receive a stipend for participation in the fellowship
Have access to paid teaching and performance opportunities.
