Teens, are you ready to spit some poems? Come share the stage and rock the mic with young poets across Houston at our new FREE VERSE OPEN MIC SERIES. Every second Saturday of the month at Art League Houston, the list opens at 5:30pm.

Feature: Chibbi is a Mexican-born, Texas bred poet, actor, and makeup artist. He started performing poetry in 2006 while attending the University of Texas at Austin, receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Dance in 2009. After returning to his hometown, he founded the city’s only regularly occurring spoken word competition, Laredo BorderSlam. In Houston, he was one of the founding members of Write About Now and was on their inaugural National team. He now lives in San Antonio with his husband and two fur babies, and is an active participant in the local poetry community. He was the 2017 San Antonio PuroSlam Champion, and lead the team to a 3rd place victory at the National Poetry Slam Group Piece Competition. His work can be seen on Write About Now Poetry, SlamFind, and Poetry Slam Inc YouTube pages, and has been shared by We Are Mitú, and George Takei. OTRO/PATRIA marks his 2nd self-published collection of poetry, preceded by Where the Wild Things Grow, a journey of self-discovery as a young man explores the world on his own for the first time.
