Join us on Saturday, April 28 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. for the kick-off event of the 2018 Community Empowerment Signature Series, Empowering #UsToo: Igniting Change In The Next Generation of Young Men & Women To Stop Sexual Assault, Harassment and Misconduct (Houston Community College – West Loop Campus, 5601 West Loop South, Houston, TX 77081). Hosted by the City of Houston and Council Member Amanda Edwards.
This event will equip the next generation with the tools needed to shift our community away from the conditions that resulted in the need for the #MeToo movement. Engage in a real dialogue with other young adults, students and featured guests, to unpack the issues of sexual assault, harassment and misconduct in today’s culture as it relates to media, school, power paradigms, the workplace and more! We will address topics such as: what to do when you are a bystander of sexual assault, harassment or misconduct; what to say when encouraged to participate in “locker room” talk, and how to respond when someone “crosses the line” at work.
While the voices of those who have been forced to remain silent for years are now being heard through the #MeToo movement, it is evident there is a need to engage in a dialogue that empowers the next generation to ignite a culture shift that stops the spread of sexual assault, harassment and misconduct. Your participation in this necessary dialogue is critical. We want to hear your voice and discuss your most pressing questions. We look forward to you joining us! You will leave empowered to stand up against these issues and be the solution for your generation!
