‘A Multicultural Celebration & Flood Recovery Event’: Compassion is Action!

Houston, Texas
July 23rd 2015, 7 pm
Congregation Beth Israel – Levit Hall
5600 North Braeswood

A diverse group of artists and speakers from the Houston Metroplex work together to share diverse perspectives and raise awareness of intersectional justice in our communities. This one night event was envisioned and organized by passionate youth to confront socioeconomic, racial, and cultural divides in Houston.

In order to make our doors open to all, we are suggesting a donation of $5-10 at the door. Those who feel like donating more are encouraged to do so. All donations will go directly to support the flooded Caroline School; a pivotal learning institution for special needs children and program of Easter Seals Greater Houston. Donations to the Easter Seals Greater Houston and The Caroline School help rebuild this inspiring institution dedicated toward special needs children and assist families who depend up this school for their own children’s success.

Among those who will present works are artists from Houston’s acclaimed spoken word and poetry teams: Metafour Houston & Houston V.I.P. Our program will also include an eclectic group of multi-faith religious leaders, community activists and youth change agents!

We will also hear from those that have survived a trauma as they share with us their experiences, compassion, and passion to fight for a better world.

Following the show, we will be showcasing foods from Houston’s wide array of food trucks.

We are excited for the most culturally and racially diverse city to finally foster a space for sharing common ground! Please check the facebook page to RSVP or find other ways to get involved.
