A Poem from Camp: Slow Beauty

Slow Beauty

A hippo ambles

on the sandy floor.

It strides and staggers

and saunters, uttering a low moan.

With great effort,

after a few minutes

of clear and glossy silence,

it hauls itself back

to the shimmering pond

making soft,

exquisite ripples.
